Registered Nurse- Employee Occupational Health

The Employee Occupational Health (EOH) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing health care assessments, counseling, planning, education, monitoring, evaluating and training aspects of Employee Health programs. The EOH RN is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to employees, promoting worker health, monitoring and tracking the health status and well-being of employees, and assessing workplace safety from hazards and contaminants in the workplace.

• This is a Temporary, not to exceed 2 years position. Major duties include but are not limited to: Collaborates with EOH provider, Human Resources (HR), Voluntary Services, Infection Control, and other local and facility resources as needed. Responsible for facilitating screenings for: New Employee Orientation, Facility Driver renewal exams annually, Employee Influenza vaccine administration and tracking, Employee external transfer processes, Employee separation processes, Disaster Emergency Medical Personal System process, Courtesy pre-placement visits, Incumbent annual health evaluation and immunization, Post-exposure counseling and treatment, Evaluation and reporting of employee work related injuries, Illnesses within the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs, Maintenance of employee health records and employee health and wellness programs. Responsible for some components of case management for employees with work related illnesses, injuries, and exposure in coordination with HR. Responsible for compliance with applicable VHA Directives, Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines, The Joint Commission standards, VISN, local policy, and other related documentation and guidance. Provides expert consultation to supervisors, employees, voluntary services, and leadership with respect to Occupational Health Programs. Assists in medical surveillance annually to those employees who are deemed appropriate to be in surveillance programs. Assesses and identifies employee needs utilizing the following: pertinent medical history obtained via interview techniques; direct observation and physical assessment or examination to include diagnostic screening; and a review of the medical record. Performs limited portions of physical examinations: vital signs measurement, vision screening, auscultation of lung sounds, and initial trauma assessments. Able to use specialized medical equipment and techniques including (not limited to): oxygen equipment, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), basic life support, and color vision assessment tools. Responsible for timely documentation in the electronic employee record systems. Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Work responsibilities are sporadic and unpredictable, which means that a regular schedule may not be established in advance. The expected availability for this position is one 8-hour shift per biweekly pay period, though additional hours may be scheduled as needed. Shifts are M-F, no holidays or weekends. Typical shifts are 0730-1600, but may require 0700-1530 on New Employee Orientation (NEO) days. Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
