Pharmacy Technician (Inpatient)

Pharmacy Technicians perform routine pharmacy functions including filling, preparation and dispensing of prescriptions, sterile compounding preparation, management of automated dispensing equipment (ADE), inventory management and multiple types of customer contact services. Advanced pharmacy technicians serve in specialized roles within the pharmacy department and are often involved with program management of their specialty area.

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include but are not limited to: Accurately interpret, fills, and prepares prescriptions with appropriate medications and or medical supplies for pharmacist verification Receives, checks, rotates, and places in stock all items received from pharmacy vendors and identifies and reconciles any discrepancies to assure correct items have been received Maintains perpetual controlled substance accountability according to local, VA, and DEA procedures and regulations Correctly interprets physician orders, selects, and measures ingredients, mixes ingredients in a safe and effective manner, inspects the final product for accuracy, suitability, and elegance, labels the product, maintains records of the manufacturing process, and supplies the product for pharmacist verification and delivery Operates and maintains automated dispensing unit dose systems Follows established policies and procedures, schedules, inventory levels, and usage rate reports to determine appropriate stock levels for specific areas of use Assembles prescriptions properly with the correct drug, strength, quantity, auxiliary labels, and prescription labels for window dispensing and mail delivery Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm or 3:00pm-11:30pm; some holidays Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
