Rehabilitation Technician (Domiciliary Assistant)

The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Rehabilitation Technician (Domiciliary Assistant). The Rehabilitation Technician (Domiciliary Assistant) will function within Social Work Service.

• The Lead Rehabilitation Technician (Lead Domiciliary Assistant) duties include, but are not limited to: Develops and maintains professional helping relationships with residents. Assists residents with physical, mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges. Provides program orientation and processes check-ins upon return from pass. Ensures shift reports occur verbally and in writing. Manages storage, documentation, and the return of resident belongings. Coordinates with staff to ensure urgent tasks are completed. Provides coverage for absent colleagues. Documents team activities and ensure follow up. Skill in written and oral communication, and the ability to interact in a positive manner with Veterans, medical staff, visitors and management. Ability to interact appropriately with Veterans who are demonstrating negative behaviors. Models appropriate behavior and treat all individuals respectfully. Completes entries in the communication log. Performs daily inspections of equipment, supplies, and safety/security conditions and initiates corrective actions including work orders or emergency repairs. Provides administrative support including preparing program materials such as handbooks, orientation packets, and discharge documents, and processing residents for admission and clearance. Responsibilities include completing safety, security, and privacy inspections, urine analysis, documenting observations, and initiating corrective actions such as work orders. Identifies or resolves resident concerns or refers to appropriate staff. Provides crisis intervention during medical , psychiatric, or behavioral emergencies, assessing situations promptly and securing appropriate care. Reports incidents and refers concerns to VA nursing or Charge Nursing depending on time of day. Work Schedule: Variable shifts Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
