The Medical Support Assistant (Advanced) will be assigned to the Care Coordination Section of the Patient Business Service (PBS), and will provide administrative assistance to the Patient Flow Center (PFC) team. The AMSA will also perform a variety of technical support duties that facilitate the work of the physicians, physician assistants, nurses, surgical and procedural schedulers, and other members of the medical facility.
- VA Careers - Medical Support Assistant: https://youtube.com/embed/EE9c4XkaELo Duties include, but are not limited to: PFC AMSA utilizes knowledge of ED, surgical and procedural, and outpatient procedures and processes to accurately schedule visits in accordance with existing procedures and guidelines. Communicates Ward Transfers and Provider Changes. Obtains and assigns beds for admissions. Communicate DRIP capacity status for provider admission assignments. Fax Interfacility Transfers to Community Care Facilities. Responds to admission and transfer requests and ensures correct encounters are created for admission, creating admission encounters in FEHR as needed. Reviews medical records for completeness, accuracy, and correct sequence. Corrects patient identification within the medical record. Receives, refers and files the results of various tests in patient's chart, keeping the chart current and accurate. Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: Not Available.
