The Registered Nurse Assistant Chief position is in Primary Care. The Assistant Chief Nurse is self directed in goal setting while integrating knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage complex situations. The Assistant Chief Nurse functions as a self-directed clinical leader, educator, and consultant utilizing management theory. Please note this position requires travel to Community Based Outreach Clinics, the applicant provides proof of valid driving license and will undergo a physical exam.

  • Major duties include but are not limited to: Participates in clinical and environmental rounds and ensures corrective action is taken to resolve deficiencies. Ensures staff compliance with Infection Prevention (IP) and patient safety practices to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff. Makes independent professional decisions and recommendations with infrequent recourse to supervisor guidance. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, directives, handbooks, and policies. Works with the Primary Care (PC) Administrative Officer, Facilities Management and Contracting to ensure that Community Based Outreach Clinic (CBOC) buildings are in full compliance with all safety and security regulations. Encourages the appropriate use of health care services and strives to improve quality of care and maintain cost effectiveness. Assumes the responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Encourages a climate for practices that enhance satisfaction through mutual responsibility for productivity and quality improvement. Provides leadership in preparation for and follow up actions required by internal and external review organizations and/or accrediting bodies. Develops and maintains formal and informal communication systems with peers, subordinates, and internal and external customers including seeking input regarding issues and barriers that impact quality of care, productivity, and professional development.
