The Delaware Public Health District seeks an Intern to work primarily within the Clinical Services Unit of the Preventative Health Division. This position will aid in outreach activities, work with public health nurses to efficiently operate clinics, assist with document reviews, data entry, and research, transport samples and kits to laboratories or the public, and assist in general duties in the Preventative Health Division. 

  • Attending outreach clinics to help nurses deliver services and patients to register and receive services
  • Supporting public health nurses through chart reviews and chart documentation
  • Engage with clients and assist with trainings to discuss prevention activities such as handwashing and CPR classes
  • Work with disease investigators collecting samples and transporting them to appropriate laboratories
  • Assist staff during outreach visits educating clinics and facilities about disease prevention practices and maternal and child health services.
  • Shadow public health nurses, epidemiologists, and dietitians learning about day-to-day public health activities and interventions

Those interested in or seeking a degree in Nursing or Public Health are preferred but not required.

Ohio driver license and auto insurance required for use in Agency vehicles. 


Pay rate is $16.55 per hour
 

 Position will be active through the end of December 2026 (maximum 1,000 hours). Hours per week are flexible with evening and weekend opportunities during clinics (range of 10-40 hours/week dependent upon the candidate’s availability).
