About the Position: Serves as the Lock and Dam Equipment Mechanic Supervisor at the Racine Lock and Dam. Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the locks, dam, and related facilities at the project.

  • Direct and coordinate the overall operation and maintenance of a Lock and Dam facility.
  • Operation of electrically, electronically, and/or hydraulically controlled lock and dam gates, control valves, and other associated equipment required for passage of traffic through the lock structure and the maintenance of required pool levels.
  • Participate in long term repair and maintenance planning for the project by developing and prioritizing projects needed to ensure continued effective operations of the locks and dam.
  • Conduct the full range of supervisory roles including setting performance requirements, making performance appraisals, counseling and awarding employees, and resolving concerns through discussion with employees and union representatives.
  • Conduct safety meetings, develop hazard analysis for each job, instruct employees in safety methods and practices, enforce safety regulations, and investigate accidents and prepare accident reports.
