• General Description of Assigned Duties: Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process, influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team, and executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches, and systematically evaluates current practice. Demonstrates expertise in the following core informatics functions to include content management, application support, health information technology system optimization, enterprise data management, business architecture management, partnership management, requirements management, and change management. They demonstrate sound decision making and judgment and possess excellent interpersonal skills. They are self-directed and influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and leading innovative process improvement initiatives. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties: The Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and sustainment of hardware and software applications integrated with the electronic health record (EHR) and associated programs/applications. The lnformatics Nurse Manager is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operations of the Informatics Service. The lnformatics Nurse Manager collaborates with the Chief Health Informatics Officer and with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility and network. They work closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide. The Informatics Nurse Manager is responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility, Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN), or Veterans Affairs Central Office (VACO), illustrating performance and leadership that benefit the facility. Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. The NM engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes an environment of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. Promotes alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence. The NM contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing and clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. Promotes a workplace positively to achieve the organization's vision and mission The NM maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement.
