This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. - The Pain Team Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) responsible for delivery of specialized chronic care to Veterans enrolled in Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System. The incumbent possesses skills to provide continuous educational services to patients and other staff. Duties include, but are not limited to: Experience with chronic pain to provide treatment of chronic pain (pharmacolgoical and non-pharmacological). Experience with opioid dependence and opioid use disorder in the outpatient setting. Will prescribe opioid medication for chronic pain management Willing to prescribe buprenorphine for chronic pain and/or opioid use disorder. Comfortable collaborating with specialists when indicated. Willing to participate in Pain meetings. Understand the concepts of Whole Health within the Veterans Healthcare Administration Comfortable participating as a team and acting as a consultant. Willing to work with Veterans who have complex medical and mental health conditions.
