Oklahoma City VA is seeking a board-certified Infectious Disease Physician to become a faculty member of the Medicine Service Department. Selected individual will participate in clinical care, supervision, teaching, research, and administrative activities.

Recruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be approved Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Duties: Infectious Disease Inpatient and Outpatient attending as needed Must be board-certified in Infectious Disease Interact with medical staff to ensure high quality medical care of patients who need infectious disease specialty care Interact with multidisciplinary medical teams to ensure appropriate follow-up care of infectious disease patients Promote a learning environment for all providers in the Infectious Section Actively participate in training of all clinical staff in the Infectious Section Represent the Infectious Disease Section in appropriate medical center-wide committees Fulfill Attending responsibilities for the Infectious Disease Fellows Orient other attending staff assigned to coverage of the clinical responsibilities of the division Participate in on-call services, and in teaching of medical students, residents and fellows rotating through the VA Responsible for all aspects of the service goals. This includes planning, organizing, staffing, decision making, coordinating, reporting and budgeting for all areas supervised They have broad and overall responsibility for clinical practice, program management, education, human resource management, budget management and supervision for employees whose work involves providing high acuity care Provide leadership with objective, independent assessments and recommendations for policy, operational and administrative issues and initiatives requiring decision and action Assures implementation of all policies and procedures Patient Care-addresses medical problems, practices within scope of privileges, arrives in Medical outpatient clinics and inpatient wards on time. May attend daily rounds and huddles for improved patient care Medical/Clinical Knowledge-Maintains Internal Medicine board certification, meets CME requirements, and participates in resident/student training Provide Workups on inpatients, diagnosis, interpretation of tests of critically ill patients and recommendation of treatment Practice Based Learning & Improvement-Participates in work groups, peer review processes and committees, and/or departmental learning activities, and remains abreast of medical advances in his/her area of expertise and incorporates this information to deliver care the meets contemporary standards of care Comply with all facility and VA directives for inpatient Medicine and care of the Veterans Will take call for emergency coverage for the Infectious Disease Consultation Service in the medical center Time for independent research in Infectious Disease or related fields may be provided in recognition of external funds obtained for research support Plus many other duties Work Schedule: Full-time; Mon-Fri; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; Weekend coverage when on consult service
