Position(s) listed under this Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) MAY be eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants selected for an EDRP-eligible position will be notified in their conditional job offer. The selectee must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Scope of Assigned Duties: Provide skilled in test interpretation, selecting diagnostic procedures, patient counseling, differential diagnosis and medical and interventional therapeutics in the broad range of cardiovascular disorders. Perform echocardiography, exercise and pharmacologic stress testing, Holter monitor and electrocardiogram interpretation, diagnosis and management of arrhythmia and ischemic heart disease. Will apply national and VA guidelines to patient screening, surveillance and management of cardiovascular diseases. Order routine diagnostic imaging studies and labs. Participate in the expanded use of clinical video telehealth (VVC and CVT)/electronic consultation (e-Consult) to improve access to cardiology care. Participate actively in performance improvement and attend assigned meetings or process action teams. Work collaboratively with other specialties. Outpatient clinic may be held at the West Campus, Montgomery, Alabama and/or the East Campus, Tuskegee, AL and provide consultation services to all other VA clinics under Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) catchment. Provides direct clinical supervision of advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate. Establishes professional working relationships with other clinical service providers within the medical center and outlying clinics, provide telephone and e-consult consultations as needed. Cooperates with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review and with other performance improvement activities as directed. Documents observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; collaborating with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes. Attend mandatory training courses, such as Talent Management System (TMS), VA Voices, Own the Moment, and comply with CME requirements in the specialty of Cardiology timely. Must be aware of and compliant of VA Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning (SAIL) metrics and VA Performance Measures. Other duties may be assigned as needed by the supervisor or Chief of Staff. Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Subject to change based on the needs of the agency.
