This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. • NOTE: This multi-discipline recruitment that will result in the hiring of one of the following disciplines: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant To apply to the Physician Assistant Posting: Physician Assistant - Psychiatry This Nurse Practitioner - PMHNP - Inpatient Unit position is located in the Mental Health Service at the Augusta, ME location. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week. Duties include but are not limited to: Provide independent, evidence-based treatment in an acute care setting Maintain detailed records of assessments, interventions, and Veteran progress. Educate Veterans and their families about mental health conditions, treatments, and coping strategies. Work with care teams and families to plan for safe transitions from acute care to outpatient or community-based services. Initiate referrals and consultations Utilize screening tools to assess safety, mood, sleep, and overall level of functioning Provide short-term counseling or therapeutic interventions to address acute mental health issues Evaluate Veterans experiencing acute psychiatric crisis to determine immediate risks (e.g. suicide, harm to others) Collaborate with Veterans to create safety plans that address imminent safety concerns and minimize risk Refer Veterans to the emergency department who require hospitalization for stabilization and treatment Work Schedule: Full-Time, Wednesday - Sunday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
