Government Education TV Channels Manager

The Government and Education TV Channels Manager provides leadership, strategic direction, and daily oversight for the Government and Education Channels (Current TV) as a member of the Public Relations Department. This role manages programming, content development, production operations, staff supervision, workflow systems, marketing initiatives, audience engagement, budget, administration, and compliance responsibilities. Work is performed under the general direction of the Public Information Director.

Applicants are required to submit samples of relevant video production work with their application. Work samples may include links to an online portfolio or individual video projects and should demonstrate the applicant’s experience with video production, shooting, editing, producing, directing, or related content creation. Applicants should indicate their role in each sample submitted.

• Operational Management— Directs daily operations, sets priorities, assigns work, and ensures timely completion of programming and production tasks.
• Staff Leadership— Supervises personnel and coordinates outside contractors, establishes clear expectations, and maintains effective workflows and Standard Operating Procedures. 
• Content Production— Oversees and participates in the creation of feature videos, PSAs, meeting coverage, and other programming, including writing, producing, directing, shooting, and editing. 
• Project Tracking— Maintains editorial calendars and project-tracking systems; monitors progress and resolves delays. 
• Marketing & Audience Growth— Develops strategic marketing plans with measurable goals across TV, digital, social, and streaming platforms. 
• Stakeholder Collaboration— Works with towns, County departments, schools and community partners to identify programming opportunities. 
• Emergency Communications — Supports emergency public information and communications efforts as assigned. 
• Digital Platform Oversight— Manages website, social media, and streaming channels to ensure coordinated, current content. 
• Reporting— Prepares regular reports on programming, production, audience metrics, and operational needs. 
• Budget Administration— Develops and monitors the Current TV budget; tracks costs and explains variances. 
• Compliance & Records— Oversees records for budgets, meetings, grants, contracts, inventory, schedules, equipment and PEG certifications; ensures digital media and paper documents are properly organized, archived and retained in accordance with County and state requirements.   
• Technology Oversight— Evaluates and maintains production and broadcast equipment and coordinates replacements or upgrades. 
• Performs other assigned duties.

• Strong understanding of video production, scripting, editing, directing, and broadcast systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills with staff, partners, and the public.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and professional video production and editing software, such as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Ability to maintain, organize and archive records, project trackers, and performance data.
• Familiarity with Blackmagic Design equipment, TriCaster and Cablecast systems, or comparable broadcast and production technology preferred.
• Strong supervisory, budgeting, and goal-setting capabilities.
• Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcasting, journalism, film, business administration, or a related field, supplemented by relevant experience in video production, broadcasting, or PEG channel operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in broadcasting, video production, communications, or PEG channel operations, including supervisory or project-management experience
• Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and extended hours to support meeting coverage, special events, and other production needs.
• Valid driver’s license.
