What You Will Do
The Veterans Services Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting Veterans and/or family members in preparing and submitting compensation/pension claims to the Veterans Benefits Administration, link Veterans to VA Healthcare system, and advocate for Veterans and their families. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who can effectively communicate with clients, partner agencies and internal staff. On a daily basis, you will apply your skills with organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving. You will serve as a liaison between the Veteran and the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families and will complete training to become an accredited Veterans Services Officer.
Essential Duties
- Coordinate the Veterans Services program and support adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct client appointments, including field visits as required.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies. Provide training to community partners and citizens regarding the Veterans Services program.
- Coordinate data collection, reporting requirements, and client files. Ensure accuracy of all records maintained.
- Using a trauma informed approach, perform case management, including determining eligibility, assessing client needs, providing information, and making referrals.
- Provide program leadership to the Carroll County Veterans Advisory Council. Participate in workgroups and attend public meetings
- Act as a liaison to Veterans Service organizations in Carroll County.
- Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.

You Might Be a Good Fit If
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field
- Three or more years of related experience
- A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver's license
- Veterans Services Officer certification (or must obtain within 1 year of employment)
Additional Information
- Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
- Must meet Carroll County Risk Management driver eligibility requirements
