Physician (Pediatrics)

This position serves as a Physician (Pediatrics) with the Indian Health Service, providing comprehensive medical care to patients. The physician evaluates and diagnoses medical conditions, provides treatment and urgent and emergency care, coordinates specialty referrals, and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to address patients' medical, psychological, and social needs. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

• Interview and examine patients, review medical histories, and order or perform diagnostic tests and examinations necessary to evaluate patient conditions. Diagnose medical conditions and prescribe or provide appropriate treatment based on clinical findings, professional medical knowledge, and established policies and procedures. Provide urgent and emergency medical care and manage emergency cases that do not require referral to another facility. Coordinate referrals to appropriate medical or government facilities for specialty care and diagnostic services that cannot be adequately provided locally. Respond to acute medical emergencies and consult with physicians and other medical departments regarding patient care needs. Collaborate with Community Health Nurses, Social Workers, Health Educators, and other allied health professionals in managing patients' medical, psychological, and social needs. Document patient evaluations, observations, diagnoses, treatments, and other pertinent clinical information in the medical record. Serve as an expert in the specialty area and perform appropriate administrative responsibilities as assigned.
