You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic at Manassas National Battlefield Park in Manassas, Virginia. Please visit find a park for additional park information. This is a Permanent, Competitive, Full-time appointment
- At the full performance level (WG-10) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Inspects, services, and repairs commercial and light-industrial HVAC systems including air handlers, condensers, heat pumps, exhaust systems, and ductwork park wide. Diagnoses mechanical and electrical faults using testing instruments and replaces motors, belts, contactors, capacitors, thermostats, and related components to maintain proper environmental conditions in visitor centers, offices, and historic structures. Provides support in the areas of operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the large and complex systems utilized for air conditioning and heating various historic and non-historic buildings within the National Park Service. Constructs, alters, modifies, or repairs a wide range of features in buildings, quarters and other facilities. Implements scheduled preventive maintenance programs for boilers, HVAC equipment, pumps, and related building systems. Conducts seasonal changeovers, system startups/shutdowns, filter replacements, lubrication, safety inspections,and performance testing Documents work orders, inspections, parts usage, and system conditions in facility management systems. Assists with project planning, contractor oversight, material estimates, and compliance with safety standards (OSHA, EPA, fire and life safety). Responds to emergency service calls to restore critical building systems
