Hyperbaric Safety Technician

Under the general supervision of the burn nurse manager, the Hyperbaric Oxygen Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the physician. Operates and maintains the hyperbaric chamber(s) and associated systems and equipment. Accompanies patients in the chamber while undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy when necessary by the medical director. Hourly Pay Range: $21.34 - $31.48   Qualifications Education:

• Requires a high school diploma or GED or certificate equivalent.

Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in healthcare or the diving industry is required.
• Wound care or hyperbaric medicine experience is preferred.
• Specific training and/or experience in compression chamber operations, including a demonstrated knowledge of decompression tables strongly desired.

Specialized Training:

• Current Certification as a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) or Diving Medical Technician (DMT) preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

• Requires BLS issued by the American Heart Association.
• Requires certification by one of the following:
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) / Paramedic
  • Chamber Technician/Operator from the Military
  • Certified Hyperbaric Technician
  • Respiratory Therapist
  • Certified Nursing Assistant

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Bilingual is preferred.
• Must have the ability to work with culturally diverse people.
• Requires excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
• Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
