Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC) works to protect and improve the health and well-being of all people in Seattle and King County, with a major focus on eliminating inequities in social and health outcomes. The Health Sciences Division provides fiscal, grants, and contracts oversight for a broad portfolio of public health programs, including restricted, settlement-funded work. The Finance and Administrative Services team within the Division manages budget strategy, grants and contracts compliance, and fiscal monitoring across a large community-partner contract portfolio.

This is a high-impact, hands-on fiscal monitoring role with clear deliverables and direct exposure to grants and contracts compliance across a multi-million-dollar, settlement-funded portfolio. The successful candidate will help build the Division’s fiscal site visit and monitoring infrastructure from the ground up, work directly with community-based partners, and deepen their expertise in federal Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and public sector fiscal compliance. The role offers strong autonomy, visibility with Division and Central Finance leadership, and the satisfaction of standing up durable systems. Public Health offers a mission-driven environment and King County’s competitive benefits package.

The Health Sciences Division is seeking a Business and Finance Officer III to serve as a fiscal monitoring subject-matter expert, building and executing the Division’s fiscal site visit program across a large backlog of community-partner contracts. Working independently under general direction, the incumbent will conduct fiscal site visits, review invoices and supporting documentation for allowability and compliance, prepare results letters and follow-up tracking, and present findings and documentation requirements to community partners and in-division program/project managers. This is a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position expected to last no longer than nine months (through July 31, 2027). This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Temporary Opportunity.Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) positions are “at will” positions but are eligible for benefits. One factor that could effect the end date of the position is an unanticipated change in funding.

Note: This posting will create a list of qualified candidates that may be considered for selection of additional vacancies of the same position type over the next 6 months.

This vacancy can also be filled as a Special Duty opportunity. Special Duty Assignments are open to Career Service, Career Service Exempt or other regular (non-temporary) employee in King County who has completed their initial County probation. You must have supervisor approval prior to taking a Special Duty Assignment.

In-person interviews will take place October 21st-October 23rd.
Commitment To Equity and Social Justice

Named after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., one of the most influential civil rights leaders in our nation's history, King County is a vibrant international community with residents that represent countries from around the world. It is a region with increasing diversity that cherishes the traditions of many cultures.

The county government has a deep commitment to equity and social justice and advancing practices, strategies, and policies that promote fairness, justice, and opportunity for all – in our workplaces and our communities. With this commitment, King County has adopted a pro-equity agenda to advance regional change and ensure that residents from all communities are incorporated into our emergency planning and public outreach efforts.
