The Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is seeking a Full-Time, Physician - Tele-Hospital Medicine to join the Specialty Care Service Line at the VAMC in Iowa City, Iowa. This is a virtual position. Employees can work from any VA facility, serving VA's across the nation.

Provider is board certified and/or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Serves as tele-hospitalist and attending physician including day, weekend, holiday, and night shifts, managing inpatients or post-acute care patients in VAMCs where the National Tele-Hospital Medicine (Tele-HM) Program provides services. Duties include, but are not limited to: Provide general Hospital Medicine care of inpatient services in keeping with good clinical practice and standards of VHA Hospital Medicine and the National Tele-hospital Medicine Program. Completing triage calls and determining appropriate level of care for patient as needed. Admitting patients, writing admission and/or progress notes, discharge planning and completion of discharge summaries as needed. Collaborating with and providing clinical supervision as needed to all on-site clinical care providers (house staff, NPs/PAs/RTs/PTs/RNs, etc.) throughout the hospital, to ensure continuous high-quality care. Provide Hospital Medicine consultation services to non-medicine teams, including direct supervision and education of medical consultation house staff. Providing cross-coverage and medicine consultations as needed to other clinical areas including but not limited to: Urgent Care, Emergency Department, Community Living Center, Residential Rehab Program, Inpatient psychiatry and Intensive Care Unit. Communicating with incoming and off-going hospitalists to ensure continuity of care. Assist local staff in responding to emergencies and facilitate care coordination remotely as able. Provider is expected to document into CPRS/EHR in a timely manner and follow protocols for workload credit capture for the Tele-hospitalist program. Completing all medical records in accordance with Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations of the Medical Staff. All attending physicians are expected to participate in ongoing process improvements within their specific areas of expertise thereby promoting quality, efficiency, patient safety, and timely access to care for our Veteran patients. Coordinate interhospital transfers of patients as needed. Follow protocols for workload credit capture for the National Tele-hospital Medicine Program. Conduct chart/peer reviews for other Tele-hospitalists, if requested. Complete Telehealth training and any additional training as required by the National Tele-hospital Medicine Program. Other related duties as assigned, or as prescribed by the Director/Deputy Director of the National Tele-hospital Medicine Program. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
