Urologists provide specialized medical and surgical care for conditions affecting the urinary and male reproductive systems, as well as related female urologic disorders. At VA Hampton Health Care, urologists treat prostate cancer, bladder cancer, erectile dysfunction, male infertility, sterilization, and complex reconstructive cases, using advanced technologies like robotic surgery and blue-light cystoscopy.

• This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026 or until all positions are filled. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 15 June 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates every two weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred to at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Major Duties and Responsibilities to include but not be limited to: Responsibilities include being able to admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat (surgically or medically) and provide consultation for illnesses and injuries of the reproductive and genitourinary system and their contiguous structures. Responsible for providing the patient with risks, benefits and alternative treatments and securing the informed consent of the patient/family needed before conducting invasive procedures. Evaluates the patient to assess any changes in the physical status, lab values and vital signs of the patient prior to surgery. Appropriate notes are written in the patient's medical records, times, dates, and signed. Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations and pre-operative patient and Operating Room evaluations. Participate in various hospital committees, department and hospital in-service programs and acquire CME's as required. Work effectively with patients, families, co-workers, and other health care professionals treating them with respect and dignity. Complies with information security policy and procedures. The Urologists provide patient care which is appropriate to the cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation needs of the adult and/or geriatric patient. The Urologist must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The Urologist must demonstrate the knowledge of the changes associated with aging and possess the ability to provide care based upon age-related factors as specified on the competence assessment checklist. Urologists perform minor and major surgical procedures. They are expected to use the best available procedures and perform them at or above national statistical levels. Responsible for regular postoperative follow-up, patient teaching and wound care upon discharge orders in the chart in a timely manner. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: A recruitment incentive may be authorized for highly qualified applicants.
