The Seattle Police Department is seeking a highly motivated, customer service focused and detail oriented Administrative Specialist III-BU for the Crime Records Unit. The selected individual will work Monday through Friday, rotating Saturdays, and mandatory holidays. Crime Records works with insurance, criminal justice, governmental, and law enforcement agencies for incident/accident reports, background checks and in-custody arraignment. This position will report to the Records Section Manager.

• Performs department, program or function-specific administrative duties requiring interpretation of unique, detailed, complex and/or vague procedures and regulations subject to limited or no review by higher level employees.
• Researches and compiles information on special assignments that require a high degree of program knowledge and independence; prepares reports with a high degree of sensitivity or confidentiality.
• Organizes and coordinates administrative support operations and procedures; evaluates procedures and revises as necessary; devises new forms to improve efficiency.
• Supervises staff, assigns work, trains and provides work direction to administrative support personnel; reviews work completed by unit personnel to ensure that qualitative and quantitative standards are met.
• Performs highly responsible liaison with high level management, officials, media and representatives of agencies.
• Oversees utilization of automated office equipment; develops complex word processing applications; troubleshoots equipment and software problems concerning word processing.
• Composes routine correspondence for high level management requiring discretion due to confidentiality.
• Maintains a variety of complex records on computer or manual systems, including materials of a highly sensitive or confidential nature; establishes and maintains filing systems.
• Performs the duties of the lower level.
• Performs other related duties as required.Required Qualifications:
Requires three years of clerical support experience (or a combination of education, training and/or experience which provides evidence of the ability to perform the work of the class).
Desired Qualifications:
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite programs.
• Ability to communicate clearly, handle a variety of tasks, and assignments in a timely manner.
• Team oriented and possess a positive work ethic.
• Ability to lift to waist and overhead up to 25 pounds and carry boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Detail oriented, organized, and very thorough.
Position Requirements:
• Pass a Seattle Police Department Background Investigation.
• Must perform work on-site. No remote work option is available for this position.

The full salary range for this position is $39.65 - $44.51 per hour.
New employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression, which is $39.65 hourly. Current City employees’ starting rate of pay will be based on Personnel Rules regarding promotions. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) regular position with full benefits. This is a Civil Service position eligible for overtime.
