The Miami VA Healthcare System's Nursing Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic LPN. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program.

• Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) collaborate with multiple specialty care providers in scheduling, performing assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care and positive customer service, and providing essential nursing care to veterans in various health care settings including inpatient, mental health, spinal cord injury, and community living centers. LPNs maintain acceptable standards of practice under the direction of the nurse manager or designee and engage in nursing care, which requires the knowledge and skills represented by licensure as a LPN. Assignments are limited to situations demanding an exceptional degree of practical nursing knowledge and skills. Other LPN duties include but are not limited to: Preparing and assisting with personal hygiene (bathing, grooming, oral care) changing linens, feeding, ambulating, transferring, and providing for patient comfort and safety Taking and recording vital signs, collecting routine specimens, monitoring intake and output, and reporting basic observations and changes in the patient's condition to supervising nurses or providers Preparing patients for diagnostic procedures by ensuring comfort, privacy, and safety, and assisting with ambulation or transport to tests or appointments as directed Providing care and support to patients from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating an understanding of emotional, cultural, spiritual, socio-economic, and age-related needs Accurately documenting basic patient information, care provided, and responses to interventions using appropriate forms or electronic records Aiding with rehabilitation activities including range of motion, ambulation, positioning, and pulmonary hygiene Assisting with a wide variety of procedures such as catheter care, sterile dressing changes, enemas, nasogastric and colostomy care, and glucose monitoring Preparing and administering prescribed medications-including oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, PRN medications, and vaccines-in accordance with policy Recognizing urgent or emergent situations, seeking assistance from the Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician, and initiating emergency interventions as directed Performing respiratory treatments such as postural drainage, chest physiotherapy, oxygen and nebulization treatments, suctioning, and routine tracheostomy care, monitoring and documenting observations as appropriate Other LPN duties as assigned VA Careers - Licensed Practical Nurse: https://youtube.com/embed/Ae85IP1Oiz4 Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor.
