INTERNAL POSTING - Wildlife Biologist III

The employee will direct the South Carolina Oyster Recycling and Enhancement (SCORE) Program and coordinate community-based and large-scale habitat restoration projects throughout South Carolina.
Job Duties Include:

• Supervise, train, and evaluate SCORE and grant-funded staff and coordinate field and volunteer activities
• Plan and oversee contractual oyster restoration projects, including site selection, shell procurement, bidding, contractor coordination, and post-project monitoring
• Manage oyster reef, salt-marsh, living shoreline, and other grant- or mitigation-funded restoration projects 
• Track project budgets, schedules, data, grant requirements, results, and required reports
• Oversee Army Corp of Engineers permit applications and compliance reports 
• Develop grant proposals and coordinate with agencies, contractors, partners, stakeholders, and the public
• Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of vessels, vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment, and other program equipment

A master's degree in biology, chemistry or wildlife management and two (2) years of experience in fish, wildlife or marine management or research programs; or a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related technical area and four (4) years of experience in fish, wildlife or marine management or research programs.
Ability to lift heavy objects and work under adverse conditions including high heat and humidity.  Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends and long work days as required by field schedule.
