SBG Defense is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Engineering team in East Butler, PA.

This position plays an important role in managing defense-related projects from post-sale support through completion. The Project Engineer will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and other departments to keep projects on schedule, ensure customer requirements are met, and coordinate testing, documentation, and qualification activities.

This is a hands-on engineering position. We're looking for someone who is comfortable working in both an office and manufacturing environment and who is willing to get involved on the floor when needed to help solve problems and keep projects moving.

What You'll Do

• Manage the day-to-day lifecycle of assigned defense programs.
• Coordinate PPAP, First Article Testing (FAT), and Source Approval Request (SAR) activities with Engineering and Quality.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
• Review customer solicitations and identify technical, contractual, testing, qualification, and documentation requirements.
• Review and interpret government contracts, customer specifications, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate testing activities and ensure required forms and documentation are completed accurately.
• Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and other departments to keep projects on schedule.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing processes and procedures related to project execution.
• Respond to customer questions and assist with resolving technical and project-related issues.
• Provide hands-on support on the manufacturing floor, including assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and quality-related activities.
• Ensure project requirements are understood and communicated throughout the organization.
• Support accurate costing and quoting by identifying technical and qualification requirements during bid and solicitation review.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed to support defense projects and company objectives.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
• 4+ years of engineering leadership or project engineering experience, preferably in defense or a related manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with defense contracts, customer specifications, qualification requirements, or technical documentation preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Quality, Production, and other departments.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and taking a hands-on approach when needed.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.

Systems Experience

• Microsoft Project or similar project scheduling software required
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
• Experience with Syspro and/or Salesforce is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
