Family Immigration Paralegal Role

As a Family Immigration Paralegal, you will provide comprehensive support to attorneys and clients throughout the family-based immigration process. This role is responsible for managing case preparation, gathering supporting documentation, maintaining client communication, tracking case progress, and ensuring timely filing of immigration petitions and applications with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and other relevant agencies. This role requires strong writing, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and file family-based immigration petitions and applications, including Forms I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-864, N-400, and related supporting documents.
  • Organize, review, and gather necessary information and evidence for case preparation.
  • Draft correspondence, affidavits, declarations, and client communications for attorney review.
  • Respond to Requests for Evidence (RFEs), Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs), and other agency correspondence under attorney supervision.
  • Correspond frequently and promptly with clients about their case.
  • Communicate with federal agencies professionally and promptly.
  • Coordinate with attorneys to prepare clients for interviews and other immigration-related proceedings.
  • Ensure all case files are organized, complete, and maintained in accordance with firm policies and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional client service while handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Record billable hours and time block work calendar.
  • Maintain case calendars, track deadlines, and manage document workflows.
  • Conduct fact-gathering and legal research as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and takes necessary measures to ensure the success of the Badmus & Associates Team.

Other Responsibilities

  • Performance of other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Participate in firm committees.
  • Support and engage in firm’s marketing activities.
  • Whatever it takes to ensure the success of the Badmus team.

Qualifications for Family Immigration Paralegal

  • Minimum three years of family-immigration paralegal experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of USCIS forms, procedures, family-immigration case preparation, and agency procedures.
  • Excellent writing, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and with a team.
  • Positive attitude, professionalism, and commitment to outstanding client service.
  • An associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred, but can substitute relevant experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: eager-to-learn, outgoing, positive, energetic person with a can-do attitude; ability to interface effectively with coworkers, clients and vendors.
  • Able to balance effectively working independently and being a team player.
  • Computer skills and strong data management skills including use of the internet search, case management software, and email applications, and familiarity with fundamental computer and network operations.
  • Excellent word processing skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and familiarity with PowerPoint. Typing minimum of 50 WPM.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, with an emphasis on detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills (including strong grammar and proofreading skills).
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Demonstrate strong personal initiative.
  • Able to handle multiple priorities.
