Position Overview

The 3D Print / Production Associate operates and maintains Aventra’s 3D printers and builds mission-critical components for the company’s unmanned systems and defense technologies. The associate assembles precision aerial vehicle components and autonomous aircraft systems, including electromechanical assemblies, and supports engineering and quality teams in investigating defects and test failures. This is a hands-on role for a highly organized, detail-oriented team member who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.

Essential Functions

3D Printing & Equipment Operation

• Operate and maintain multiple 3D printers, ensuring quality output and minimal downtime

Assembly & Production

• Build a variety of assemblies and sub-assemblies, including electromechanical assemblies

• Assemble precision aerial vehicle components and autonomous aircraft systems

• Assemble hardware for use in test environments, including components, sub-level assemblies, and full-level assemblies

• Work independently on assigned projects while remaining flexible to daily task changes

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Perform self-inspections and in-process inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards

• Assist engineers in investigating quality defects and test failures

• Provide feedback on assembly issues, driving continuous process improvements and solutions

Team Support & Safety

• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical challenges

• Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the work area and adhere to the company’s safety protocols

• Contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement

• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required Skills and Experience

Education & Experience

• No degree required — Aventra values skills, attitude, and willingness to learn over formal credentials

Skills & Knowledge

• Exceptional attention to detail — precision is mission-critical in defense manufacturing

• Ability to follow complex written instructions exactly and maintain detailed documentation

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

• Basic computer skills for operating manufacturing systems

Licenses & Certifications

• None required

Other Legitimate Minimum Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. Citizenship verification required for access to ITAR-controlled hardware and technical data

• Able to work on-site at Aventra HQ in Herndon, VA

• Reliable and consistent attendance when scheduled, including availability during core hours

Preferred Qualifications

• Electronics soldering or circuit board assembly experience

• RC aircraft, drone, or robotics hobby experience

• Prior 3D printing experience (FDM, SLA, or similar technologies)

• Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing environments

• Technical certification or vocational training in manufacturing, mechatronics, or a related field

• Experience with CAD software or ability to read technical drawings

• IPC soldering certification

• Experience with hand tools and precision measurement instruments

Schedule, Travel & Physical Requirements

Full-time, 8-hour shifts scheduled within our Monday–Friday warehouse hours (7:00 AM–7:00 PM), with flexibility to fit your routine.

Travel Requirement: None anticipated; work is performed on-site at Aventra

Physical / Environmental Requirements

• Ability to stand and work with your hands for extended periods / ability to lift approx. 25lbs.

• Ability to work in a small-team manufacturing environment operating and maintaining 3D printers and precision assembly equipment

• Ability to follow company safety protocols and maintain a clean, safe work area

Overtime may be available at the discretion of the supervisor, based on project or business needs. All overtime must be approved in advance; nonexempt employees will be compensated for all overtime hours actually worked, in accordance with applicable law.
