This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel in the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Position may be filled at the WG-08 or the WG-10 grade level. About the Position: Serves as a Maintenance Mechanic accomplishing trades and labor work, within the Directorate of Public Works, Operations and Maintenance Division, Buildings and Grands Branch at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.
- Serves as maintenance mechanic in accomplishing trades and labor work performing multi-trade maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of installation facilities, utility systems, and specialized equipment.
- Exercises full journey-level independence to operate heavy construction machinery, manage high-voltage building systems, and perform complex structural facility overhauls.
- Performs infrastructure level electrical work up to 500 volts; installs, modifies, and repairs and tests building distribution panels, circuits, and outlet boxes. Measures, bends, and runs conduit.
- Connects complex wiring systems to primary power sources. Makes repairs to equipment by inspecting diagnostic testing and general knowledge of equipment for kitchen domestic and electrical motorized equipment.
- Tests and maintains lighting protection systems. Understands and reads electrical diagrams, service manuals sketches and wiring diagrams.
