As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will oversee the full lifecycle of hazardous materials and hazardous waste at a facility to ensure safety, compliance, and efficient operations. Manage material authorization, tracking, inventory control, and regulatory compliance using computer-based systems. Evaluate activities against federal, state, and local environmental requirements; identify compliance issues; and provide technical guidance to staff and project teams.
- Manages hazardous materials entering, stored, and used at the facility; reviews material information, maintains inventories, and uses computer-based systems to authorize, track, and manage hazardous materials.
- Evaluates hazardous material activities against applicable federal, state, and local requirements; identifies compliance concerns and provides technical guidance to facility personnel and project teams.
- Prepares hazardous materials business inventory plans and regulatory reports, including Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) and Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) reports; compiles, analyzes, and validates data to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
- Evaluates hazardous waste generation, accumulation, storage, transportation, and disposal activities for compliance with applicable requirements; maintains required records and documentation.
- Conducts environmental compliance inspections and assessments; reviews facilities, operations, records, and practices to identify potential deficiencies and environmental risks.
