The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic for installation, operation, modification, and repair of steam and hot water heating equipment (both oil and natural gas fired units), unit heaters, furnaces, refrigeration equipment, AC equipment, evaporative coolers, and air compressors.
- Plans, lays out, modifies, and installs a variety of large complex commercial and industrial systems and supporting equipment used to condition air in warehouses, shops, hangars, hospitals, and large office buildings by using blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, guides, codes, and work order requests. Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of large complex commercial and industrial systems and supporting equipment with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgment to locate malfunctions. Performs routine preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, units, and associated controls. Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
