This vacancy is for a GS - 0545 - 7, Military Pay Technician located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, PPC RETIREE and ANNUITANT SERVICES BRANCH in TOPEKA, Kansas.
- You will serve as a Military Pay Technician and be responsible for the establishment, maintenance and termination of a variety of military accounts, for auditing and correcting leave and pay accounts, reviewing and researching payroll control reports, responding to message traffic, processing regular and supplemental payrolls, and handling miscellaneous adjustments and corrections to members' pay accounts. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Reviewing and processing final actions to resolve various complicated pay problems using a variety of techniques for military pay actions related to retired and annuitant pay. .Reviews and updates system modules and indebtedness transactions to ensure that regulatory provisions of statutes are applied correctly. Verifies transactions are mathematically accurate, contain proper accounting data, and are in compliance with federal laws and regulations. .Utilizes the automated payroll system to research accounts and determine whether adjustments are necessary. Computes the rates of pay and determines proper pay tables to be used for calculating pay related to retiree and annuitant specializations. .Processes account discrepancies to correct payroll accounts which could not be updated through the automated system. Calculates pay entitlements and inputs appropriate transactions to credit or debit the member's pay account. Receives inquiries of a routine and complex nature from customers concerning payroll and personnel matters.
