Position Information

The Director of Medical Student Support & Wellness provides leadership and oversight for comprehensive student support, student wellness, and student life programs within the UCR School of Medicine. The position develops, implements, and evaluates programs and services designed to promote medical student success, personal well-being, and professional development, with particular responsibility for supporting students experiencing complex academic, personal, mental health, or other challenges. The Director provides individualized counseling and guidance, develops student support and wellness programming, coordinates appropriate resources and accommodations, and provides crisis intervention, education and support as needed. The position collaborates extensively with faculty, staff, administrators, and campus partners to identify and address student needs and to foster a supportive learning environment. The Director also oversees Student Life activities and wellness initiatives, establishes program goals and objectives, monitors program resources, and supervises assigned staff responsible for student support, wellness, and student life programming.The annualized salary range for the Director of Medical Student Support & Wellness is $86,600 to $159,400; however the expected pay scale for this position is up to $123,000. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.This position will work fully onsite at the UCR campus during the first six-month probationary period. After that, the position may be eligible to transition to a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite / 2 days remote.Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Proven ability to recruit faculty and integrate learners which requires high level planning and coordination skills, the ability to think strategically and communicate complex information to multiple stakeholders. Knowledge in the methodologies used to enhance student achievement, such as collaborative teaching/learning models, strategies for effective counseling and peer mentoring, small group facilitation and training, coaching, mentoring and advocacy. Extensive experience in multicultural competencies, and personal and academic crisis intervention; working with students to assist in clarification of ethics and values. Demonstrated competencies and advanced knowledge in theories of multicultural counseling, learning, identity development, human and career development. Proven track record in exercising discretion and effective judgement in decision-making processes. Knowledge of and experience in conflict management and intervention strategies. Skill in projecting and monitoring a budget for program implementation. Ability to implement appropriate support services and accommodations based on documentation appropriate for students with learning and psychological disabilities. Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Assembly Bill 746 as they pertain to students with LD, ADHD, ABI and psychological disabilities. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of department, organization, HR and university policies and processes. Current knowledge of relevant industry federal, state and local laws and regulations including national accrediting organizations and state and federal licensing and regulatory offices. Advanced knowledge of research methodologies and research designs. Knowledge of academic curricula; strong knowledge of the organizational climate, structure/organizations, and culture. Knowledge and experience in researching, compiling and analyzing data, and generating reports; extensive experience in developing evaluative instruments specific to programs/projects goals and objectives. Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, and administering evaluative instruments for measuring program effectiveness.
