The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Environmental Services has a vacancy.
The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety, and welfare.
This Environmental Project Specialist vacancy is in the Billing and Invoice Management Section of the Financial Services Division. This position requires a basic understanding of accounting, customer service skills, and organizational skills. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality assesses fees for the issuance and maintenance of permits, licenses, registrations, certifications, and other environmental activities.

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

- Process Regulatory Fee Invoices and any necessary account adjustments.
- Understand and communicate the regulatory requirements for different activities in the state and the fees associated with those activities.
- Communicate with the public to resolve any invoicing issues that may arise primarily through phone calls, emails, and letters.
- Coordinate the resolution of outstanding problems with inaccurate permitting data and facility information such as mailing addresses and contact information.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or promotion of a permanent classified employee. If the position is filled as a job appointment, it could be converted to a probationary appointment should funding become available.
Domicile: East Baton Rouge
Career Progression: Environmental Project Specialist 1, 2, 3, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.
Compensation: This position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
- Environmental Project Specialist 1: $17.07 per hour
- Environmental Project Specialist 2: $19.55 per hour
- Environmental Project Specialist 3: $22.38 per hour
