Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting The Primary Care Physician is the leader of a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), (i.e., physicians, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and clerical associate) which provides direct for Veterans enrolled in Primary Care at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center or at one of Community Outpatient Centers (CBOCs). The duties of the position are but not limited to the following: The primary care physician provides clinical examination, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic diseases, preventative care, and coordination of care for panel of primary care patients. Appropriate documentation of patient care in clinical records is expected. The physician refers to specialists when additional input and treatment outside the scope of the physician's experience and training is required. The physician is responsible for monitoring PACT teamlet performance to assess adherence to Veterans Affairs (VA) performance measures. Outstanding customer service is expected. The physician leads the team in assisting the patient advocate and administration in resolving patient concerns. The primary care physician is assigned responsibility for a panel of patients at a specific location. However, the physician may be asked on some occasions to assist in patient care or administrative duties at the main hospital or at another site. The primary care physician should have competence in the effecting teaching, monitoring and coordinating of educational activities, including planning, evaluating and documenting. The physician may have the opportunity to serve as an attending physician on the inpatient service which includes teaching residents, fellows or other trainees. The primary care physician may also have administrative responsibilities, including program planning or leadership, committee involvement, and other augmenting duties for the medical center, and making administrative decisions that affect primary care programs. It is important that the primary care physician has excellent communication skills and relations with staff and community and is able to elicit cooperation from others. This includes interacting in person, by telephone, email, residency program software, and via other electronic platforms. The primary care physician serves as a member of a larger multidisciplinary treatment team which includes social work, pharmacy, mental health, nutrition, and on occasions, other services. The primary care physician adheres to standards of care as they relate to state medical license, professional organization, and the VA; while manifesting strong ethical standards at all times. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
