• Serves as a Supervisory Social Worker in a Health Services Department (HSD) of a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal correctional facility. In conjunction with, and under the guidance of, the Health Services Administrator (HSA), is responsible for the professional and administrative management of the social work services provided in the institution. Offers interpretation of social work practice and assists in the development and review of BOP's social work policy; develops, recommends, and approves department training; establishes baseline data needs for updating program objectives; and develops and monitors performance improvement measures for social work practices. Monitors staff responsible for all clinical functions performed by the department, including discharge planning, reduction in sentence, group therapy, social work assessments and evaluation, treatment activities, and training. Assures the social workers supervised are aware of and adhere to all current directives of the BOP, meet current Joint Commission standards, state licensure standards, and BOP expectations. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
