This vacancy is for a GS-0346-13, Logistics Management Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, MAJOR SYSTEMS ACQUISITION ASSISTANT PEO SURFACE in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia.

• You will serve as a Logistics Management Specialist and as a subject matter expert in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), logistics sustainment, and federal acquisition policies and procedures related to acquisition logistics functions. Incumbent develops, plans, and implements ILS and logistics sustainment infrastructure for CG-9 projects; provides direction for logistics support advancement; develops and implements logistics policy and procedures; and evaluates system ILS integration with other project and systems engineering activities. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Managing ILS tasks performed under development and acquisition contracts and assisting in developing cost estimates and spend plans. Developing and implementing logistics policies, plans, and programs tailored to the unique project. Preparing optimized ILS and sustainment plans and processes supporting U.S. Coast Guard mission readiness, system availability, and operational effectiveness. Planning for full lifecycle support of asset production including evaluating sources of repair, conducting market research, identification of sustainment solutions, and managing business case analyses for performance-based logistics support alternatives. Translating ILS requirements into contractual requirements using statements of work, contract data requirements list (DD Forms 1423) and tailored data item descriptions (DIDs). Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position. Incumbent is expected to obtain/maintain Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) certification (Level III) within 12 months of hire. Required to meet the DHS Lifecycle Logistics Level III professional acquisition certification requirements within 18 months of assignment.
