Blackwood Solutions is seeking a Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Manager to lead the upkeep of company vehicles and equipment across a multi-state footprint. This role goes beyond a traditional facilities-focused maintenance position: the successful candidate will manage a team of technicians, coordinate maintenance schedules and vendors across multiple states, and keep fleet and equipment assets reliable, compliant, and ready for use. Strong coordination skills are essential, as this person will be the connective point between field locations, technicians, vendors, and leadership.

•     Oversee the maintenance, repair, and servicing of company fleet vehicles and equipment across multiple states.

•     Manage, schedule, and support a team of maintenance technicians, including hiring, training, and performance management.

•     Coordinate preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of vehicles and equipment.

•     Serve as the central point of coordination between field locations, vendors, and internal teams to keep maintenance work on schedule across all sites.

•     Track maintenance history, service records, and inspection compliance for all fleet and equipment assets.

•     Source, negotiate with, and manage relationships with outside repair vendors, parts suppliers, and service providers.

•     Monitor and manage the maintenance budget, including parts, labor, and outside service costs.

•     Ensure all vehicles and equipment meet applicable safety, DOT, and regulatory requirements.

•     Plan and coordinate travel logistics for technicians or equipment moves between state locations as needed.

•     Report on fleet and equipment condition, maintenance costs, and team performance to leadership.

•     Respond to urgent repair or breakdown situations and coordinate timely resolution, regardless of location.

•     3+ years of experience managing fleet, equipment, or industrial maintenance operations.

•     Prior experience supervising or managing a team of technicians or maintenance staff.

•     Experience coordinating work or assets across multiple locations or states strongly preferred.

•     Working knowledge of fleet maintenance practices, equipment upkeep, and DOT/safety compliance.

•     Strong organizational and coordinating skills, with the ability to juggle multiple sites, vendors, and priorities at once.

•     Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal.

•     Proficiency with maintenance tracking software, fleet management systems, or similar tools.

•     Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally to other state locations.

•     High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.

•     Coordination & Organization - able to manage many moving parts across locations without losing track of details.

•     Leadership - comfortable directing a team and holding people accountable to standards and schedules.

•     Problem-Solving - responds calmly and effectively to unplanned breakdowns or scheduling conflicts.

•     Communication - keeps leadership, technicians, and vendors aligned and informed.

•     Reliability - consistent, in-office presence Monday through Friday to support day-to-day operations.

This is a full-time, in-office role based at Blackwood Solutions' Bloomington, Indiana location, working Monday through Friday. Because company assets are spread across multiple states, occasional travel to other sites should be expected.
