This position is located in the Environmental & Social Performance (ESP) Practice Group, Department of Compact Operations (DCO), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). MCC uses a pay banded system to compensate employees. This position is pay band 4B/4A which is generally equal to GS-12/13.
- MCC Environmental Social Performance (ESP) Group is seeking to collaborate with MCC staff and country counterparts to support sound environmental and social performance of MCC-funded project activities. Primary duties include: Provides technical (e.g. research and analytical) and administrative support to ESP Senior Directors, Directors, or Associate Directors on a variety of assignments related to program development, implementation and/or closure. Works collaboratively with MCC staff, country counterparts, and contractors to ensure that MCC-funded activities comply with host country laws and regulations and the MCC Environmental Guidelines inclusive of the International Finance Corporation's Environmental and Social Performance Standards. Assists in reviews and technical assessments of project-related documents including concept papers, feasibility studies, environmental and social impact assessments, environmental and social and management systems and management plans, involuntary resettlement action plans, procurement documents, work plans, and monthly or quarterly reports to ensure compliance with MCC requirements. Assists ESP staff with the management of contractors, consultants, and interagency agreements as appropriate to ensure that related deliverables and work products are acceptable. Undertakes site visits to MCC program countries to support project development and implementation oversight to ensure sound environmental and social performance. Keeps abreast of current thinking, techniques, and resources related to environmental and social performance, particularly in the context of international development. Maintains awareness of appropriate tools, practices, policies and regulations. Supports and contributes to the ESP practice group. Produces a variety of reports, conducts targeted research, maintains issues trackers, creates/manages databases, and develops presentation materials. Supports MCC engagement in the critical mineral mining and supply chain sector. Supports MCC ESP in understanding the environmental and social risks of the sector, the environmental and social governance norms, and helps MCC identify for sector-supporting engagement opportunities in MCC programs. Performs related duties as assigned.
