The Physician-Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS), Specialty Care will provide leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for all specialty care services.

• Located in the Rogue Valley, White City allows easy access to Metro-area of Medford while remaining engrossed with nature. White City is an unincorporated community in Jackson County, Oregon, in the Rogue Valley. It is about nine miles north of Medford and 34 miles north of the California border. Recruitment/or Relocation Incentives: May be authorized for highly qualified applicants Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): May be authorized for highly qualified applicants Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Duties include but not limited to: Provides comprehensive consultation, diagnosis, and treatment within their specialty for patients referred to specialty care services. Orders, interprets, and acts upon diagnostic tests (laboratory, imaging, etc.). Performs and supervises specialty-specific procedures credentialed and privileged by the Medical Staff. Refers complex cases to other specialists as indicated. Prescribes medications, devices, therapeutics, and controlled substances in accordance with state laws and VA policy. Completes documentation, orders, and patient care entries in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with VA standards. Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with VA, federal, and state regulations. Supervises specialty attending physicians, advanced practice providers, fellows, trainees, and other staff within the specialty care division. Monitors, evaluates, and improves quality, safety, and efficiency of specialty care services. Participates in medical center committees relevant to specialty care. Oversees resource allocation, budgeting, and staff recruitment as needed for specialty clinics. Fosters multidisciplinary collaboration with primary care, mental health, and allied health professionals. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm Additional Requirement: Demonstrated leadership experience within a specialty care service line, including strategic planning, oversight of clinical programs, and effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and manage clinical staff across multiple specialties, with experience in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and fostering a high reliability team. Strong background in quality improvement, patient safety, and performance measurement, including participation in facility or VISN-level committees, accreditation preparedness, and implementation of evidence based practices. Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance in alignment with VA, federal, and state requirements. Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice within the relevant specialty, including comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and procedure/surgical care consistent with credentialing and privileging standards. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) documentation, clinical workflows, and utilization of data to drive operational and clinical decision making. Experience leading or supporting multidisciplinary collaboration with primary care, mental health, surgical services, ancillary services, and allied health professionals to optimize access, care coordination, and patient outcomes. Commitment to professional development, continuing education, and engagement in teaching or mentoring trainees within an academic or clinical training environment.
