The Mental Health Trainer, Registered Nurse assesses staff learning needs using various designs and tools for data collection to discover the learning needs and knowledge gaps in specific clinical areas. He/She plans and implements educational activities and offerings to address the unique needs of the patient population, strategic goals, finding from performance improvement activities, latest trends in healthcare, and expectations of external regulatory agencies.
- Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care of all patient care areas included within assignments. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Leads efforts with management and within the Shared Governance Structure to alleviate identified care and culture disparities between units. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Evaluates feedback on programs and achievement and effectiveness of learning. Reviews and revises educational programs to reflect learner preferences, needs, outcomes, follow-up, healthcare trends, research, and changes in the healthcare environment. Demonstrates knowledge of curriculum development, including identifying program outcomes, designing competency statements, writing learning objectives, and selecting appropriate learning activities and evaluations strategies.
