The Application Technician 1 - Payroll Assistant position is responsible for performing all duties related to the preparation and maintenance of the payroll and time accounting for the Metro Parks & Recreation Department.
Metro’s Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of facilities and programs throughout Davidson County. Currently, the department oversees nearly 16,000 acres of open space, including 184 parks and 107 miles of greenway. Metro Parks offers after school programs for children, activities for seniors (55+), cultural arts classes, dog parks, fitness classes, nature programs, sports leagues, ice hockey, art galleries, and much more. - Performing payroll application function requiring detailed knowledge of procedures
- Maintaining and distributing accurate reports needed for payroll.
- Maintaining/Verifying leave accounting records
- Performing, monitoring & reviewing daily transactions for payroll purposes
- Distributing and placing stop payments on payroll checks
- Assisting staff with payroll problems
- Interpreting Civil Service Rules and Policies and Departmental Policies related to payroll.
- Maintaining information for budgetary purposes
- Preparing various statistical reports and performing analysis utilizing various computer programs
- Collecting and analyzing data manually and by means of using a computer to address payroll issues within the department.
- Assists with other clerical/technical related activities as needed.
- Serve as relief for front desk.
- Works on special projects as needed.
- Maintaining grant information and division hours worked for budgetary purposes.
High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of applications, financial and/or technical experience related to payroll.

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Payroll processing experience
- Experience with Oracle based platform
