As a PH Registered Nurse at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Location: Murray County Health Dept. -Chatsworth, GA


Under supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures within but not limited to areas of Immunizations, Children's Health, TB/Infectious Disease and other public health programs such as Medbank

• Participates in community events and provides evidence-based education on various health promotion topics.
• Functions as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient’s level of need.
• Focus on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of the population.
• Serves as patient advocate and refers patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
• Utilizes Electronic Medical Record to accurately documents patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement. 
• Administers and dispenses medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
• Provides education to clients, families, and community partners.
• Incorporates strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds e.g. cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, gender, age, ethnic, sexual orientation, professional, religious affiliation, mental and physical capabilities.
• Prepares to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
• Uses individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
  
  
  

Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification. Note: No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
Public Health Experience

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.

CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.

All positions require criminal history record check. Required education credentials, license, certification and/or registration must be submitted prior to employment in the position. Some positions require pre-employment drug testing in which the applicant who is offered the position will be required to successfully complete.
