The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SG VHS) is recruiting for one (1) Registered Nurse (Cardiology) at the Gainesville, Florida, VA.

  • Major duties include but not limited to: Provides complex cardiac nursing skills to both outpatient and in patients undergoing complex cardiology procedures in the Cardiac Day Stay Unit and or the Cardiac Cath Lab. Obtains assessments and provides patient education around topics of post-procedure care, medication adherence and smoking cessation and providing appropriate referrals as needed to guide patients toward a heart healthy lifestyle. Communicates and collaborates daily with providers and other service lines to provide for the continuous care of the cardiology patient. Completes assessment of cardiology patients prior to appointments based upon evaluation and identification of current patient problems, to include vital signs, pain assessments and completion of applicable clinical reminders Provides pre-procedure instructions to patients scheduled for cardiology procedures. Participates in ongoing quality initiatives that support the advancement of knowledge and improvement of care delivered to the cardiology patient.
