The Pharmacy Program Manager is knowledgeable and proficient in pharmacy practice including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and pharmacotherapeutics. A subject matter expert on electronic health record (EHR) issues, workflows and mitigations. The incumbent will assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of performance improvement activities, policies and procedures, and any regulatory requirements and recommendations that relate to medication safety or EHR.
- VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws Duties include, but are limited to: Serves as a unique subject matter expert on the EHR ticket reporting for pharmacy operations as well as at VISN and national levels, as requested. Investigates or assists with management of data collection, analysis, and review of medication safety related events and practices. Ensures ongoing compliance with medication management standards. Participates in medical center and pharmacy service quality improvement initiatives and assists in the development, approval, and implementation of policies and procedures that support medication safety. Assists with medication recalls and/or shortage situations to mitigate medication safety concerns. Works in concert with appropriate individuals, including but not limited to clinical front-line staff, vendor solutions points-of-contact, OI&T and Informatics staff. Maintains familiarity with all pharmacy operations impacted by applications employed and proposes operational changes to Pharmacy Leadership when automation provides the opportunity to gain efficiency or improve medication and patient safety.
