This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: As a journeyman Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, you will diagnose, overhaul, and repair heavy-duty vehicles, engines, electrical systems, and marine vessels for the outside maintenance section at the Oahe Project.

  • Perform heavy mobile equipment mechanic work including troubleshooting malfunctions, determining the type and extent of repair required, repairing, and maintaining equipment.
  • Perform automotive mechanic work including troubleshooting malfunctions, determining the type and extent of repair required, repairing, and maintaining vehicles.
  • Operate, navigate, and is responsible for maintenance of several types of boats and floating equipment.
  • Remove and repair major systems or components of equipment to include transmissions, starters, generators, carburetors, fuel pumps, braking systems, and steering systems.
  • Replace and adjust tracks; replace and adjust road wheels, road wheel bearings, idler wheels, idler bearings and oil seals; replace suspension arms, torsion bars, stabilizer bars, etc.
