This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis Operations Division, Revetment Branch, Bank Grading Unit. Duty Station: Memphis, TN.

  • Serves as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic which provides the repair, maintenance, and general servicing of floating plant, heavy mobile equipment, and automotive equipment as well as other miscellaneous items of mechanical equipment.
  • Overhauls and makes major repairs to the large floating cranes Derrick Boat 4601, Bucyrus Erie Bank Grader 4919, Derrick Boat B-47, 100 ton barge mounted crane and the generators and compressors with this equipment.
  • Diagnoses difficult performance problems on a wide variety of equipment and improvises replacement, assembly, repair, and troubleshooting techniques when standard procedures do not suffice.
  • Performs mechanical maintenance, overhaul, and repair of a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered heavy construction equipment.
  • Completes both minor and major repairs in accordance with approved work orders, diagnosing trouble to the extent necessary to satisfactorily complete repairs.
