You will serve as a Supervisory Safety and Occupational Health Specialist with the Department of the Interior (DOI) Office of Facilities and Administrative Service (OFAS). You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 3 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
- Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: The Branch Chief serves as the supervisor of the Occupational Safety, Health, & Environmental Branch, providing occupational safety, health, and environmental management and oversight to occupants of the DOI Stewart Lee Udall Building (UDALL); occupational safety support for the OS nationwide; and management of a Wellness Center in the Udall Building that is supported by a full-time Registered Nurse. The incumbent serves as an expert and primary authority in the OFAS for these functions. Evaluates the performance of subordinates, plans and directs work to be accomplished, and sets priorities for subordinates based upon workload and abilities. Serves as principal advisor to the Chief, ASD, on matters of occupational safety, health, and the environment. Provides overall technical direction and assistance to the OFAS and its service customers in carrying out Branch programs. Directs the Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental (OSHE) and industrial programs to identify and assess risk factors or environmental health and safety hazards for the OS nationwide. Implements a cyclical occupational safety inspection program for the OS to ensure compliance with Federal and Departmental regulations. Provides technical advice and guidance regarding Worker's Compensation Program. Oversees the investigation and reporting of workplace injuries. Responsible for developing, managing, and reconciling the Branch budget and assists in the formulation of all out-year budget requests and submissions.
