Selectee will serve as a Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist for expendable (EX) assets/material in a VA Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area. They will supervises multiple supply series of consumable medical supply/inventory used in the healthcare system as well as the micro-purchase program and recognized as the Commodity Management Division's subject matter expert serving as an advisor and consultant to the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) and Assistant CSCO.
- Major duties and responsibilities include: Supply Management: Responsible for the inventory management, control and distribution of expendable inventory; ensures maximum effectiveness in the management of inventories; has oversight and accountability of the management plan for the commodity program; conducts effectiveness/efficiency reviews; oversees the computation of requirements for supplies; serves as the approving official for approving reconciled purchase card transactions; oversees the care and handling of specialized items; prepares/reviews submissions to obtain approval or funding; and acts as the central point of contact for the coordination of commodity support and the resolution of logistics problems; Returns, Recalls and Reutilization: Manages federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies; approves emergent procurement decisions; participates in root cause analysis process; and serves as the utilization and disposal official for excess consumables; Supervision: Supervises employees from separate but interrelated units; makes recommendations for promotions, reassignments and awards; develops position descriptions and performance standards; conducts semi-annual and annual performance reviews; assists subordinate staff with performance issues; schedules and grants leave; monitors overtime usage; resolves informal complaints and grievances; develops the ability of subordinate staff; develops individual development plans for professional growth and development; coordinates and integrates various technical units to ensure compliance; conducts on the job training and in service training; and assesses training and educational needs and implements training programs; Performs other related duties as assigned.
