This position provides patient screen, clinical assistance, routine technical support and related administrative services under established protocols. The incumbent performs recurring clinical assistant duties with documented competency, refers unusual or unfamiliar situations to the nurse, provider, supervisor or designee and receives additional instructions for new, difficult or higher- risk assignments. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Prepares exam rooms, supplies, equipment, and patients for routine examinations and procedures. Performs routine clinical support tasks within direct instructions and documented competency. Provides routine basic care support, such as assisting with ambulation, transfers, positioning, comfort measures, and use of simple braces, dressings, or equipment as directed. Recognizes and reports unusual or abnormal patient conditions, patient reactions, safety concerns, equipment problems, or deviations from expected conditions to the nurse, provider, supervisor or designee. Assists in emergency situations by obtaining equipment, calling for assistance, initiating CPR, or basic life support when certified, and following the directions of licensed staff. Performs routine clerical and technical support tasks, including answering telephones, taking messages, filing, preparing forms, locating records, and supporting patient check-in or check-out processes when directed. Provides routine basic instructions or patient education materials within established parameters and under the direction of the nurse, provider, or supervisor.
