This position is located in the Emergency Room at the Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. The The primary purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support for departmental operations. Specific responsibilities may vary by assigned unit or clinic area, while remaining consistent with the overall purpose of the position. Schedules, cancels, and reschedules appointments in the electronic health record (EHR) system following established procedures and provider availability. Provides patients with routine appointment information and refers non-routine scheduling issues to appropriate staff. Maintains and updates patient demographic information, consults, referrals, and related documentation in the EHR and associated tracking systems. Reviews records and forms for completeness and routes or files documents according to established procedures. Maintains logs, reports, and records used to support clinic administrative operations. Responds to patient inquiries and directs patients, visitors, and callers to appropriate personnel or services. Identifies urgent concerns and promptly notify appropriate staff following established procedures. Maintains confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA, privacy requirements, and agency policies. Prepares correspondence, reports, forms, and other administrative documents using standard office procedures and established formats. Monitors routine administrative processes, including appointments, referrals, consults, and follow-up actions, to support department operations.
