The incumbent serves as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant responsible for performing a wide range of administrative duties associated with patient access to CCS. This includes coordinating consults, scheduling activities and supporting the administrative workflows required for timely delivery of care.

The incumbent plays an integral role in identifying and resolving barriers related to access, scheduling, documentation flow, and patient support. The work influences operational processes, action plans, monitoring activities, and reporting requirements for Community Care Service (CCS). The position requires a high degree of judgment when responding to both Veteran and staff concerns and when resolving process or workflow issues. The Advanced MSA performs a wide and diverse array of administrative duties including consult interpretation, Community Care appointment coordination, receipt and indexing of complex medical documentation, and communication with external providers throughout the El Paso service area. The incumbent works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care delivery model and can independently perform position responsibilities with minimal supervision, setting priorities and adjusting the sequence of work to meet patient and team needs. The work includes duties involving multiple unrelated processes requiring flexibility, organization, and accuracy. Tasks are frequently completed under strict deadlines due to patient volume, required timelines, and external provider schedules. The incumbent must remain professional, tactful, and discreet in all interactions and must consistently demonstrate the ability to create a climate of cooperation and responsiveness. The position requires proficient use of PC applications and complex VA systems including VistA, CPRS, EPSI, EPS, HSRM/TPA portals, and other electronic tools. Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
